Shawna Lindberg, LCMFT
I offer therapy for professional women
Hi, I’m Shawna Lindberg, a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist with over 30 years of clinical experience. I work with women who struggle in their relationships and feel pulled in a million directions. My goal is to help you stop feeling overwhelmed, guilty, and burned out from having to do it all and start helping you get back to living life.
My journey to becoming a therapist
I have grown through my own struggles and feel compassionate about my work in the field as a therapist. I feel this is what helps me relate to my clients. As a spouse of a Navy veteran, mother of a teen, a working professional, and dog mom, I understand what it is like to have to juggle multiple responsibilities while staying connected with those important to you, and also striving to have a successful and thriving career.
My spouse and I both come from divorced and blended families and know all too well how complicated relationships can be. It can be easy to get busy with career and family, and feel disconnected at times in our own relationship if we don’t make it a priority.
In addition, finding time for yourself can be another challenge. As a professional woman, I have experienced the stress and worry of carrying the weight of my family and know how stress impacts how I enjoy life. I am committed to helping professional women make time for themselves, achieve their goals, stay connected in their relationships, and enjoy their life.
Helping people energizes me
As a marriage and family therapist, I find helping and supporting others inspiring. I enjoy listening and empowering clients towards their goals and working through their problems. The most rewarding thing about being a therapist is seeing a person walk away feeling lighter, more free, and excited about their life.
This is what my clients share about me:
I help them identify what they are feeling and how to communicate with others in their life.
I accept them for who they are and their current life circumstances.
I help them heal from their past and live in the present.
I help them find their voice again.
Our sessions are focused on you
Sessions will provide you with the space to be understood and heard. It is important to me to create a safe environment and ensure that the process is collaborative. There is no “one size fits all” approach to therapy. Our sessions will fit your specific needs and concerns.
As a therapist, I embrace the following philosophies
I believe that you are worthy of love and care.
I believe that empathy can change how people relate to one another.
I believe that taking care of yourself is the most generous thing you can do for yourself and those who love you.
I believe that loving and accepting ourselves for who we are, scars and all, is one of the most courageous things we can do.
I believe that we can stop feeling shame when we share our story with someone who can hear it with empathy and understanding.
My professional background
I received my Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University and have been working as a therapist for over 25 years. I am currently licensed in Maryland and California.

I am certified as an EMDR therapist and also have extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Gottman Couple Therapy. As a Family Systems Therapist, I explore how roles and family systems impact how we function in our daily lives.
In addition to providing therapy, I also provide clinical supervision and consultation to therapists and supervisors. I am a Maryland Board Approved Supervisor and AAMFT Approved Supervisor.
